Six members from Newcastle Dragon Boat Club selected to represent Australia
In a remarkable achievement for Newcastle Dragon Boat Club, six of its members have been selected to represent their country as part of the prestigious Aurora Dragon Boat Team. The athletes will compete in the 2025 International Dragon Boat Federation (IDBF) World Dragon Boat Championships, to be held in Brandenburg, Germany, this July.
The Newcastle Dragon Boat Club, known for its dedication to the sport and fostering talented athletes, celebrates this momentous selection of its top competitors: Catherine Vandine, Bronwyn McGrath and Kate Burls in the Senior B category (50-60 years) and Amanda Mitchell, Kim King and Kerrie Reay in the Senior C category (60+ years). These six individuals have earned their place in the Aurora Team through outstanding performances at national trials, showcasing not only their technical prowess but also their resilience, teamwork, and passion for the sport.
The World Championships in Brandenburg will feature top athletes from across the globe, and the Aurora Team is expected to contend fiercely for the gold. The event marks an important milestone for the Dragon Boat community, as the national team looks to maintain its legacy of excellence in international competition.
